Veteran Benefits
Until now, retired and separated US Armed Forces interested in joining the professional truck driving industry have had limited access to their VA Educational Benefits, such as the Montgomery GI Bill, to pay for training. The Werner Enterprises Professional Truck Driving Apprenticeship Program is the answer to this roadblock.
Take advantage of your VA education benefits and join the freedom of the road with Werner Enterprises. We recognize the incredible potential highly trained and motivated service men and women have after serving in the military, so we developed an exclusive program specifically designed to help you make the transition to a new career as smooth as possible.

Eligible Applicants for Veteran Benefits
- Recent graduates from Truck Driving School
- Experienced drivers with limited driving experience
- Drivers must be an employee of Werner Enterprises to participate in the Apprenticeship program and receive VA Educational Benefits.
How the VA Educational Benefit Money Works:
- Paid from the Dept. of Veteran Affairs directly to the driver.
- Once employed at Werner, it takes the VA roughly 90 days to determine eligibility and issue a check.
- Paid monthly in arrears, based on a 30 day month.
- If only part of a month is worked, benefits are pro-rated.
- The first check will more than likely be retroactive, therefore a larger amount.
- Pay depends on the category a person fits in, but is all TAX FREE.
