My "Werner Moment" came to me while I was thousands of miles away from my family. When I say family, it also includes my extended family here at Werner Enterprises.
I have been a proud member of the United States Navy for 20 years and still have a few more years left in me. Much like my job here at Werner Enterprises, as a Navy Reservist, my career field is in logistics. As a logistics specialist, I work for one of the largest logistics forces in the military, the Navy Expeditionary Logistics Support Group (NAVELSG), which is based out of Williamsburg, Va. Our mission is to provide transportation and cargo handling, as well as to supply Advanced Base Functional Component support for Navy and Marine Corps operational units. Our capabilities are extensive and wide-ranging. In addition to managing traditional shipboard cargo handling and expeditionary airhead operations, NAVELSG oversees warehouse and freight terminal management, tent camp maintenance and personnel support functions, and fuel and mail distribution, as well as the barbershop, laundry and the ship's store. My role as a logistics specialist is to manage these operations in the field during deployment.
While stationed in Iraq, my fellow Werner VAS associates came together and made care packages to send over to my sailors and me. I was amazed and blown away by the items that were sent. It was also my 40th birthday, and there had to have been over 40 cards in one of the boxes, which was a real morale booster!
Werner has been very supportive of me and what I do in the Navy Reserves. The Company truly does take pride in having an associate who serves in our great nation�s military. Werner is actively engaged in supporting the military, and my boss and fellow associates not only thank me for defending our country but also ask if there is anything they can help me with. Since my civilian career, as well as my career in the Navy Reserves, revolves around logistics, my department and I enjoy discussing and comparing what we do in our civilian jobs here at Werner to logistics in the military. Werner is an amazing company to work for, and our associates help make the transitions from civilian to military and military to civilian a smooth, simple process. Just knowing that my company cares is a huge benefit. Thank you Werner for all you do!

My "Werner Moment" came to me while I was thousands of miles away from my cubicle. Even before I started with Werner, I have been a proud member of the United States military and will continue to serve my country for many years to come.
While stationed in Iraq, my fellow Werner Associates came together to raise funds and send packages to the troops in my company. Associates volunteered their personal time to purchase supplies with the funds that they collected and packaged them into boxes.
Werner paid for the shipping, which allowed for the purchase of more products for the soldiers. Without the help of Werner Enterprises, the soldiers would not have received the items which helped us make it through deployment.
This happened again when I was deployed a second time, and it meant just as much to me and the troops in my company. Werner Enterprises has always been very supportive of my service in the military, whether it be during training, deployment, or while transitioning back home. I am proud to serve my country and proud to be a member of the military.
